Matthew Goodliffe

Occupation:

I currently work for the Bank of New York in their Portfolio Services department.

Dog:

Cassie

Cassie was originally my mum's dog and was the first one we ever did agility with. She is 8.5 years old and unfortunately does very little agility these days due to arthritis in one of her legs.  Unfortunately Cassie died suddenly in 2006.

Charlie

Charlie is the first dog that I have trained from scratch in agility (Yes that means I'm to blame for the way he is!). He has taken me from elementary to senior. He is 5 years old this year, and this year has been his year. He has one several Novice Classes and in doing so qualified for the semi finals for Olympia. We also qualified for the Supa Dogs Final and the Kennel Club International Novice Final at Peterborough.

Buddy

Born 26th August 2005.

Just fantastic!

Agility:

I started going to agility 7 years ago and used to watch my mum work Cassie, or was it Cassie work my mum? After a couple of months I started working a German Shepard called Shane, who was owned by Reg & Audrey Rogers. I soon got bitten by the 'bug' (not Sue's!) and decided to get Charlie. It's been hard work ever since! My first club was Watford Agility Club and then I joined Whirlwind Agility Group in 2000 when the club started up. I decided to do the instructors course in 2004 after much encouragement from Reg, Audrey and Sue and became an ACAI. I currently instruct at Bushey K9 and Whirlwind and also train at North Downs.

Most Embarrassing experience:

Wow. The difficulty in choosing one! Probably the most embarrassing at a show was at Thames a couple of years ago when Charlie had a clear round in the Intermediate Jumping, but the timing didn't work. It then took me another 7 attempts to get another clear! But we did end up getting 8th, even if it did upset the queue!

Most memorable experience:

Winning out of Starters in 2003 at Letchworth. All the Whirlwind members were there to cheer when I received my trophy and rosette. I can't thank them enough for all their help and support.

Future Achievements:

I hate questions like this! In the dream world I would say go advanced, but that isn't likely to happen. On a realistic level getting 3 out of 3 clear rounds in one day would be an achievement! Or am I dreaming again.....

Further show you have travelled to:

I think it's either Dordale or Derbyshire, not sure which. I can't stand my own company for any longer than that!
